Scared to death!

‘Twas Halloween night, and our party was cancelled an hour ahead of time. But that’s okay, because we have House of Hell! Why party and get drunk and wild, when you can play a gamebook with your girlfriend? Oh man, getting old is funny. But yeah, that seriously is what we did.

So, she rolled 8 Skill, 20 Stamina, and 19 Luck. For her Fear score, a 10. Yeah, House of Hell has a second “life bar” and when you get that many fear points, you keel over on the spot from terror. How very cheesy, right? It’s like those old Vincent Price movies like The Tingler or House on Haunted Hill.

We didn’t keep notes about the playthrough and she didn’t look at the maps on my website. We just enjoyed it as-is, her for the first time and me for the first time in a few years.

She didn’t make it downstairs. She had found a ghost’s name, and from that ghost found mention of a secret door and a magic knife to destroy an awful evil. But along the way she ran into dead bodies and ghosts, and finally the last straw was walking into a library and finding a piece of paper with writing appearing on it from out of thin air. Spoooooky!

It was nice to finally sit down and play again.
